Taxes that are not past due can also be paid at Fifth Third Bank branches in Shelby Township. Tax payments can be made at the Treasurer’s Office in the Municipal Building located at 52700 Van Dyke, Shelby Township, MI 48316. If tax due dates fall on a weekend or a legal holiday, the due date will be the immediately succeeding business date, per MCL 211.44a(6) for Summer taxes and MCL 211.78a(2) for Winter taxes. On March 1, all unpaid taxes, Summer and Winter, real and personal, are forwarded as ‘delinquent’ to the Macomb County Treasurer for payment, with additional penalties assessed by the Macomb County Treasurer. Winter taxes become due on December 1 and are payable without penalty until February 28. Please send any late Summer tax payments directly to the Treasurer’s Office, 52700 Van Dyke Ave., Shelby Twp., MI 48316. An additional 1% is assessed on the first of each month, thereafter, through February of the following year. After September 14, a 1% late fee is assessed for September. Summer taxes become due on July 1 and are payable without penalty until September 14.
